Medan as the largest city on the island of Sumatra is currently served by mass transportation of electric buses for environmentally friendly community mobilization. This electric bus service was inaugurated on November 24, 2024 which has 5 (five) corridors, namely:
1. Corridor 1 Pinang Baris – Merdeka Square – Amplas consists of 52 stops with a route length of 48 km 2. Corridor
2. J City – Merdeka Square – Medan Fair Square consists of 39 stops with a route length of 20 km
3. Corridor 3: Belawan – Merdeka Square consists of 57 stops with a route length of 50 km
4. Corridor 4: Tuntungan – Merdeka Square consists of 42 stops with a route length of 35 km 5.Corridor
5: Tembung – Merdeka Square consists of 32 stops with a route length of 20 km
Payment is made non-cash using tap cash or e-wallet with a rate of IDR 5,000 (USD 0.3) per trip and IDR 3,000 (USD 0.2) per trip for students, seniors and people with disabilities.
The Medan Electric Bus can accommodate 28 seated passengers and 22 standing passengers, equipped with air conditioning (AC), surveillance cameras, bus tracking applications and USB ports that provide comfort for passengers.
Medan is the only city on the island of Sumatra that has an electric bus service to serve its people in mobilizing.
